![]() ![]() Oh, did I forget to mention that I was so pleased with the VX-3000 that I purchased another one for my workshop PC?Īll in all, I am a big fan of the VX-3000. These go away after about a minute, but it is a minor annoyance. Occasionally, though, in a dark situation, red pixels seem to be stuck on the webcam output. Setup with Windows Live Messenger was simple, as was setup with Skype. I frequently found the webcam to be clearer than the ones integrated into my HP laptop and netbook, and people I video called could see and hear me clearly. However, the interface of the LifeCam software was a bit too clunky for my tastes, and from Microsoft, I expected a better UI and quicker performance from the software. All I had to do was download and install the software, and plug it in, and it worked fine. However, downloading the new software from the Microsoft website was easy. The webcam came with the LifeCam software CD, which included software not compatible with Windows 7 (This was purchased about 18 months after Windows 7 came out). It does look quite stylish sat on top of my glossy LG monitor as I write this review. This will fit in well with any silver or black monitors and setups. It is a matte gunmetal/black unit with a metal piece of the focusing ring drawing attention to the rest of the design. When it arrived, the design of the webcam struck me. At the time I hadn't had many Microsoft peripherals before, but trusted the name and went ahead with it. I'd had enough of the novelty Simpsons affair I had at the time, and I found this webcam online for ?11 (exchange rate in price paid field is valid as of 11/11/11). I purchased this webcam a while ago, just before upgrading monitors. ![]()
